Because in 2012 Romney/Ryan didn't work so now in 2016 we seem to be heading to Ryan/Romney. It's the definition of insanity with a twist.retiredenghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11693405694592881395noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3856837.post-80505580416739622342016-04-10T16:09:50.962-04:002016-04-10T16:09:50.962-04:00Steve,

The...Steve,
What the hell are you worrying about?

The way our MSM HATES Hillary, if Hannibal Lecter ran against her, the only criticism he'd be likely to get, is that he loves his meat rare!Victorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06609452382111686086noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3856837.post-50544231849216681012016-04-10T15:04:50.146-04:002016-04-10T15:04:50.146-04:00As for me, I still want the GOP to reap what it...As for me, I still want the GOP to reap what it's sown for many, many years. I hope one of its probably unelectable front-runners has the juice to win the nomination, rather than a presentable phony right-centrist.

I'm glad to see a break in your characteristic gloom on this subject, Steve. "Probably unelectable," eh? I incline to agree, although if a bad guy with an Islamic-sounding name shoots up the Mall of America Hallowe'en week, who can predict how the Teeming Millions might respond?

For the rest, a GOP "moderate" (those should be neon-pink flashing air-quotes) like Romney(!), Kasich(!!) or Ryan(!!!) might, in what used to pass for a normal year, be a stronger candidate in the general election, but even were Cruz inclined to be graceful in defeat at Cleveland, I think a substantial fraction of his base might not be such good sports. You can probably triple that fraction when speaking of the Trumpistas, and factor in as well the near-certainty that The Donald will be a very sore loser indeed. Candidate Ryan's crossover appeal in November will be more than offset by the rage of the true believers (Trumpenproletariat or Cruz-controlled) against the "cuckservatives" who have sold them out again. Good times.Rand Careagahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04993454654652802173noreply@blogger.com
