Tomorrow, Bill Donohue of the Catholic League will be on a FoxNews.com Web-only show to talk about President Obama and the IRS -- or, rather, President-Elect Obama and the IRS:
Fri 5/17 Bill will be on FOXNews.com "Spirited Debate"@ 1:10 pm ET Re '08 Catholic League IRS controversy live.foxnews.com

Yes, it's true, folks -- that says "Re '08 Catholic League IRS controversy." Barack Obama is so evil he controlled the IRS even before he was sworn in as president!
But Obama had help from a certain
... I have never made this public before, but given the heightened interest in the way the IRS has conducted itself, the time has come to disclose what happened.Yes, and that was pure harassment, because everything Donohue and the League did before the election was perfectly innocent and apolitical! Like this ad, which ran in the weekend edition of The Washington Times shortly before the election (click to enlarge):
Just weeks after Barack Obama was elected president in 2008, I was notified by the IRS that the Catholic League was under investigation for violating the IRS Code on political activities as it relates to 501(c)(3) organizations. What the IRS did not know was that I had proof who contacted them to launch the investigation: Catholics United, a George Soros-funded Catholic organization.
The IRS was contacted on June 5, 2008, to launch a probe of the Catholic League, and the letter sent to me was dated Nov. 24, 2008. The June 5 letter was sent to the IRS by lawyers from Catholics United; it was mailed to Director Marsha Ramirez, director of Exempt Organizations Examinations, and to Lois G. Lerner, director of EO Division.
The "evidence" against me was nothing more than news releases and articles I had written during the presidential campaign on various issues....
Oh, and here's a representative sample of articles from the September and October 2008 issues of the Catholic League's magazine, Catalyst:
* "Obama's Public Policy Blunders"
* "Bob Casey Mislabeled as Pro-Life"
* "Pelosi Gets an 'F' in Religion"
* "Biden Digs Himself a Hole"
* "Casey Blows It on Abortion"
* "Democrats Sponsor Catholic Bashing"
Gosh, I don't know where anyone would get the idea that Donohue was motivated by electoral politics in 2008.
And what sort of heavy-handed oppression resulted from this Jew/Kenyan/socialist/atheist thuggery by a guy who wasn't president yet and his zillionaire puppetmaster?
In the end, the IRS concluded that although the Catholic League had "intervened in a political campaign," it was "unintentional, isolated, non-egregious and non-recurring"; our tax-exempt status remained intact.Oh.
Well, then impeach Obama now! We should have impeached him before he was even sworn in!
Actually, I knew that the Republicans had utterly lost it in 1992. On Election night, my local TV station cut to the Orange County Republican Election headquarters -- some hotel ballroom -- and it was full of young Republicans holding signs (I s**t you not!) saying "Impeach Clinton".
ReplyDeleteThey hadn't even called the election, yet, must less inaugurated the man...
So President Obama has done quite well in avoiding pre-inauguration impeachment calls for a whole 5 years!
So here's what's happening right now:
ReplyDeleteRepublican operatives are trolling through all the records of current and past IRS employees looking for a few who will trade a lifetime of wealth for a willingness to tell whatever tale about Barack Obama Roger Ailes wants them to tell.
Shit, it might even go the other way, with ambitious conservatives who work, or have worked, for the IRS stepping forward and offering their services.
But someone -- or, more likely, lots of someones -- will soon trade cash for lies and start appearing all over television saying that the whole IRS scandal comes right from the White House.
PQuincy: You're so right. I worked as a darkroom technician back in 1992 and for a few years after. I used to spend hours and hours literally in the dark developing film and making prints. In order to alleviate the boredom, I covered up the picture tube of an old television and used to listen to hours and hours of C-SPAN -- mainly their hours of daily call-in programming, and their campaign coverage.
ReplyDeleteAnd what you say is exactly right: From the very beginning, the base of the GOP talked about Clinton as if he were an illegitimate occupant of the Oval Office, a criminal who should be in prison, a traitor who Republicans had a duty to impeach.
But here's the thing: This wasn't just the base. It was the GOP's elected officials.
Back in those pre-Internet, pre-cable news days, there was a lot less transparency. Elected officials could give speeches and mingle with crowds with a high degree of privacy - at least compared to today. Nobody watched C-SPAN, and whatever they said on C-SPAN wasn't going to surface in the national media.
And the thing that struck me was that the GOP's elected officials were saying all the same crazy shit their base said, and they expressed quite openly their desire to impeach the president.
The whole conservative movement is a racket from top to bottom, and everyone except the most ignorant members of the base knows it.
Uhm...
ReplyDeleteWhat's Catholic for "Putz?"
Oh yeah.
HE'S A "DICK!"
And a flaccid, diseased one, at that.
