Bill Kristol yesterday:
When I suggested a couple months ago that President Obama might seriously consider replacing Joe Biden as his running mate with Hillary Clinton, Condoleezza Rice hadn't yet thrilled Romney backers with her speech on June 23 in Park City, Utah, and Ann Romney hadn't subsequently said, "We've been looking at [picking a woman], and I love that option as well." If Romney selects Rice, and Obama counters by selecting Hillary, the evening on Thursday, October 11, at Centre College in Danville, Kentucky could be the highlight of the campaign -- a vice presidential debate between former secretary of state Hillary Clinton and former secretary of state Condoleezza Rice....I can't fathom the motivations of all the other Republicans who are floating the utterly implausible Rice rumor, but this suggests that what Kristol is really jonesing for is a catfight. Remember, he was Sarah Palin's strongest advocate in 2008 -- and beyond.
I can't be 100% certain what he wants, but I know I don't want to be in the same room if he ever gets it.
