Surely I can't be the only person who's reminded of William Shatner:
If he loses the election, Romney really could have a second career as a self-mocker of his own self-importance, if he'd just embrace it a la Shatner.

It might be more appropriate to compare with Shatner's version of Common People.
That was actually my first choice, then I went with "Rocket Man." But I think you're right, so I swapped in "Common People."
If Romney had a tenth the charm of The Shat he'd have sewn the nomination up months ago.
