EDITING MITT'S AD
There's a new ad out from the Romney campaign:
Titled "Not Fair," the 30-second spot features Mr. Romney, clad in a bright blue button-down shirt, and images of small-town America -- an anonymous Main Street, a white clapboard church, an old-fashioned diner, a minivan.
"It's not fair that you have to pay taxes when you earn your money, when you save your money, and then when you die," Mr. Romney said cheerfully. "That's why I’ll kill the death tax once and for all."
Er, Mitt, you have to pay the "death tax" when you die. Most of the rest of us don't. Your net worth is something like a quarter billion dollars. Most of us are worth a hell of a lot less.
In the ad, Romney also promises to
roll back tax rates across the board. And savings? When I'm president, for middle-class Americans, the new tax rate on your interest, dividends, and capital gains will be absolutely zero.
Mitt's going to do this while adding $30 to $40 billion to the defense budget. This will all take place while the first baby boomers begin collecting Social Security. Yup, sounds like a plan for true fiscal discipline.
