"The one person who ... I think has the potential to really be a powerful voice against Bush's most significant vulnerability [the economy] is Bob Rubin," said John Podesta, President Clinton's former chief of staff.

That's from a Washington Post article on potential Kerry running mates. NPR mentioned Rubin this morning as well.

No -- please, no.

A dour East Coast millionaire -- yeah, that's just what's a ticket headed by Kerry needs.

(And one with even less Elvis in him than Kerry.)

To be fair, of course, all the pundits who deride Kerry as a stiff, effete moneybags would instantly declare Rubin a brilliant pick, so maybe I'm wrong about this.
