One last item, and this one's not life-or-death:

I see that Russell Simmons's Hip-Hop Summit Action Network has announced a boycott of Pepsi because Pepsi produced commercials featuring a cussing Ozzy Osbourne -- this after Pepsi dropped the rapper Ludacris as a pitchman because he uses dirty words. Obviously, this is hypocrisy on Pepsi's part -- but remember that Pepsi dropped Ludacris only after being browbeaten by Fox News blowhard Bill O'Reilly (who, as G. Beato pointed out last year, published a quite racy novel in 1998 and is thus also a hypocrite).

Simmons and his group should apply the pressure where it belongs -- on Fox. Fox's big-budget movie Daredevil opens a week from Friday. Simmons should announce a boycott of this and everything else Fox produces -- books, newspapers, TV shows, DVDs, and other movies. No New York Post. No Joe Millionaire. Hit O'Reilly where it hurts -- in his bosses' bank account.
